I made it to Jordan!
My Greek Islands tour has sadly ended (should be in rehab, not in the Middle East!) and I flew from Athens (via Cairo - got some pics of the Pyramids on my way in!) to Amman yesterday. Was very glad to leave Athens, I was only there one night, but it is one of my most loathed cities. It's dirty, dangerous and I am very, very sick of pushy Greeks. I had an amazing time in Greece, made lots of new friends! I also magically turned about twelve shades of skin darker. It was so nice to relax on some beautiful beaches, stayed at some really great places that were so cheap, and party on most nights. The islands were so beautiful. Dramatic steep cliffs, white houses, blue domes, donkey trails, so picturesque!
Had a slight altercation when leaving Cairo airport in transit with Egyptair, when the officials (with guns!) checked my passport to confirm I had transited from Athens they couldn't find the stamp, as the Athens officials didn't stamp my passport very hard! So they took my passport away while everyone else was boarding for Amman and it was pretty scary! It was all fine in the end but I hate my passport being taken away from me! Plus, flights to Amman are not like Brisbane to Sydney flights twenty times a day! It was weird flying in over Amman...all you see is desert...couldn't even spot any buildings from the sky! It's very hot here as I imagined it would be, but I have spent all day sleeping in my room at the hotel, soaking up the air con. I'm in the lobby using the net and I just met two of the other three people doing this tour, which starts tomorrow. We spend about seven days in Jordan before crossing over into Israel! My Jordanian visa is very cool as well.
Having a look at going to San Fermin (Running Of The Bulls) next week, or week after, or whenever it actually is that I have five days spare between this tour ending and flying out to Cuba. So far I had no plans to go to Spain on this trip as I went to Spain twice in 2007 but a few people I know are going and I haven't been to Pamplona or San Sebastian up in the north, and it would be an amazing thing to see (don't worry, I wouldn't particiapte, I am so clumsy!). I was originally just going to chill out in London for a few days before Cuba but I haven't planned anything as yet!
